GENERAL QUESTIONS FAQ
Q: Are you a film festival?
A: No, we are not a film festival, but we do collaborate with film festival organizations. We are a cinema pop-up that provides a great opportunity for exposure to film festival coordinators.
Q: How much does it cost to attend your events?
A: Our cinema events are free, unless we need to charge to cover the cost of a particular event.
Q: How long is the showing?
A: We usually show films for about one hour and twenty minutes, which is the average length of a feature film. This may include intermission and pre/post lounging.
Q: Do you only showcase films on the first Tuesday of the month in the basement?
A: Our main pop-up location (for now) is at XL Publichouse on the first Tuesday of the month. We also host special cinema pop-ups at other locations and times, when permitted.
Q: Why do I have to sign in every time I attend?
A: Our screenings are private and we want to ensure that everyone who attends agrees to our house rules. Signing in also helps us keep track of attendance.
Q: Do I need to provide my email when I sign in, and what do you do with my email information?
A: Your email helps us verify your identity, but if you have any issues, you can let one of our staff members know and we can provide an alternative method. Your email will only be used to send you updates and invites to special IBC/IAC events. We will never sell your email to a third party.
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: There is an age limit, which depends on the location of the event. Our monthly first Tuesday events are held at a bar, so you must be 21 years or older to attend. Follow us on Instagram @indiebasementcinema to receive announcements about all-ages events.
SUBMITTING VIDEO CONTENT
Q: Can anyone submit video content?
A: Yes, anyone can submit video content. Our staff members will review submissions and determine if they are suitable for a screening.
Q: How much does it cost to submit my video content?
A: Submitting video content is free, unless we agree to charge a small fee for a special event service (e.g., a fundraiser for your film or a special screening).
Q: How do you choose what content to show at each event?
A: We consider the theme or genre of the event, and then review submissions to determine which ones are most suitable.
Q: How will I know if IBC/IAC will show my content?
A: We will announce selected films through our media links or contact you directly. Please note that we choose films on a monthly basis and can only select a limited number of submissions due to the volume of entries. Films that are not chosen will be considered for future events at a later date.
